Innocence

Every Bullet pierced its body
Every bomb tore it to pieces
Every splinter went deep into its soul

It endured nights of hell,
Of merciless violations
And of mindless deaths

Yet, the city moved on as it had to,
Pieces picked up or swept away,
Some tears for those gone away

But something was left behind,
Lying alone in a dark corner,
Ravaged by the hands of terror,
Innocence had breathed its last,
Gone from the hearts at last.
